Braddock high School:  FOOTBALL- four years, two-way starter junior and senior years;1941  

Carnegie Tech  (now Carnegie Mellon):  FOOTBALL- Captain and MVP senior year, received Joe Pash Memorial Trophy as Outstanding Player 

Other:  Navy 1944-1946, played football at Oceanic Naval Air Station at Virginia Beach, Virginia graduate and Class President 

Bill Bichsel 

Scott High School:  FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL and BASEBALL, earned eight letters in three years; 1957 graduate 

Coaching Career:  St. Colman’s Turtle Creek 1972; Head Coach Turtle Creek High School girls team 1981, won three section titles and won 1982 WPIAL championship; Head Coach girls team Woodland Hills, WPIAL championship and played in state finals at Hershey 1997; WPIAL Coach of the Year 1982 and 1997 

Paul “Zoom” Blazevich

Westinghouse Memorial High School:  FOOTBALL, Allegheny County vs. Western PA all-star 1956 

University of Miami, Florida:  one year

El Dorado Junior College, Kansas:  FOOTBALL- Junior College All-America End

Omaha University:  FOOTBALL 1961 under Coach Al Caniglias’,   small college all-American end 

Professional:  Omaha Mustangs of professional football league of America; offensive end, linebacker, and punter 

Inductions:  Nebraska Football Hall of Fame 1984; University of Nebraska at Omaha Hall of Fame 1988 

Brian Chizmar 

Swissvale High School- 1986 graduate; FOOTBALL- two Three-Rivers Conference Championships; rushed for over 4500 yards; Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 1984-1986 and Fabulous 22 All-Millenium; Bali’s High School All-American team 1985; BASEBALL- two conference championship, twice Post Gazette Fabulous 12, batter over .400 junior and senior years 

Penn State University:  1986 College National Championship team, captain 1989 team, 1987 led Penn State in tackles and interceptions, 11th all-time leader tackles in Penn State history 

Awards:  1990 Toyota Leadership Award and Dapper Dan Honoree 

G. Robert Evans 

Scott High School:  1948 graduate; FOOTBALL- 3-year starter; quarterback, halfback, center and linebacker; captain senior year and Honorable Mention WPIAL 

University of New Mexico:  FOOTBALL- 1st team center freshman team; Southwestern College Winfield, Kansas:  FOOTBALL- starting center (after honorable discharge from Marine Corps) 

Career:  Physical and Aquatic Director for Boys Club of American, Wilkinsburg and The Golden Triangle YMCA, and American Red Cross 

Inductions:  Pennsylvania Hall of Fame 1984 

Edward Eyles 

Teaching Career:  High School physical education, health and geography 35 years, retired 1986 

Coaching Career:  FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, BASEBALL, GOLF and SWIMMING; several WPIAL and PIAA swimming champions at Gateway, Plum and Franklin Regional high schools 

Official Career:  WPIAL BASKETBALL, SWIMMING  

Other:  One of founders of Eastern Swim Association, coached two teams, Murrysville and Meadowink to numerous championships; Founder of Franklin Area Swim Team (FAST), club team in Allegheny Mountain Swimming Association; coached several Junior and Senior National qualifiers, a Junior National Champion, a Junior National Record Holder and a World Ranked Swimmer; 1986 American Swimming Coaches Association Coach of the Year by Finals Swimwear and AMS All- Star Swim Teach Head Coach; 1999 member of 70 and over Senior Softball Team Venice, Florida, won Senior Softball World Series in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Senior Softball Players Champions, 1999 All Tournament team at Senior Softball Players Champions; 2000 won World Senior Games in St. George, Utah and runners-up in each of the World Series Tournaments; 2001 ranked 2nd in the nation 

Phil Masley 

Semi-pro Football:  Union Clothier Offensive and defensive lineman 11 years. 

Bowling:  Metropolitan Ten Pin league tournament champ 1950-51,; won doubles, all events and team event in 1956-57 City Tournament; Bowling Personality for BPAWP 1956- 57; one of 12 men in roll-off to select a representative for Pittsburgh World match game elimination in Chicago. 

Other sport:  Softball coach and umpire. 

Honors:  Greater Pittsburgh Ten Pin Bowling Association Hall of Fame, 1983; President Pittsburgh Ten Pin City Association; Secretary East Pittsburgh Businessmen’s league; supervised establishments for Men’s and Women’s TV eliminations. 

Paul Mignogna 

Pitcairn High School:  FOOTBALL, 1941-1944, co-captain 1944; All-Star 1944- game to benefit Westinghouse Valley service club charities; kicked two extra points 

California State Teacher’s College:  FOOTBALL, 1946; undefeated team; kicked extra point to put team ahead and beat undefeated Potomac. 

Pitcairn Mohawks:  Played five years; record 1947-51  43-1-4; one of the leading ground gainers and scorers 

Played organized football for 10 years on teams with combined record of 78-8-8. 

Lou Nemec 

Ohio Northern University:  FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL AND TRACK; offensive center on 1938 All-Ohio Football Team 

Coaching Career:  Football- Maumee, Ohio one year; Toronto, Ohio five years- 30-13-2 record; Wilmerding head coach 11 years; Penn Hills High School 1956-1967- 66-32-7 record; Penn Hills teams of 1958, 1961, 1962 and 1966 had 8-1 records. 

Other Athletic:  Athletic Coordinator at John Linton Intermediate School Penn Hills 1968-72. 

Honors:  Ohio Northern Athletic Hall of Fame 1978. 

Bernie Oriss 

Scott High School:  BASKETBALL and BASEBALL, three years; leading scorer basketball team senior year; All Section both sports senior year; played in Hearst Sun Telegraph and Allegheny County Optimist Club all-star high school baseball games; 1952 graduate 

Juniata College:  BASEBALL and BASKETBALL; six varsity letters; senior year baseball batting crown; Charles F. Goodale senior award for excellence in performance, good sportsmanship and cooperation. 

Semi-pro baseball:  Hershey Athletic Club, one year. 

Other Athletic career:  Scott High School- head basketball coach 1963-68; Athletic Director 1969-71 

Adolf Pendro 

North Braddock High School (Scott):  FOOTBALL and BASKETBALL; two way starter football; 1926 graduate 

Semi-pro football:  East Pittsburgh Fireman, McKeesport Olympics, Menzie Dairy, New Kensington team; Offered try out with Steelers by Mr. Rooney after playing against Steelers- Penny declined. 

Bowling:  Successful bowler in Metropolitan and Air Brake leagues 

Herb Sendek, Sr.

Athletic Career:  1st basketball coach and Athletic Director at Allegheny Community College; coached Region XX All Star Basketball team of MJCAA 1973-74; Coached at Boyce Campus 1969-76- won Region XX tourney 1975-76, placed fourth in National Junior College tournament in Kansas City; Coach of the Year Region XX, NJCAA 1975-76; Coach of the Year Skyline Conference 1976-76 and 1977-78. 

Herb Sendek 

Penn Hills High School:  BASKETBALL- standout guard, all-city and team captain, 4.0 GPA 

Carnegie-Mellon:  BASKETBALL, Carnegie Merit Scholarship, opportunity to play for coach Dave Maloney 

Coaching Career:  Assistant on Rick Pitino’s staff at Providence College 1985-89, 1993 with Kentucky; Head coach Miami University Oxford, Ohio- three consecutive postseason appearances and 1985 Mid-American Conference regular-season title; three-year record at Miami 63-26- highest winning percentage (.708) in team history; 1995 Mid-American Conference and Ohio Coach of the Year; 1996 named head basketball coach of NC State University- each of Sendek’s first four Wolfpack teams have participated in postseason play.
